First, in order to display Tibetan texts, you need to have (preferred Unicode) Tibetan fonts installed on your PC.
- Recommended: Jomolhari
Download Jomolhari and other Unicode Tibetan fonts from THL
- If you have Microsoft Office 2000 above, you browser maybe able to display Microsoft Himalaya, an Unicode Tibetan fonts not for free distribution, but comes with Microsoft Word. Here is a site that offers a link to download the font.
Windows 7 should have no problem displaying Unicode Tibetan once proper fonts are installed.
For Windows 2000 and XP, you might need to first update Uniscribe on your computer.
- First, download the latest version of usp10.dll
- Find out the location of usp10.dll on your computer, and then use the one you just downloaded to replace it.
Refer to the instruction page for how to update Uniscribe provided on the National Library of Bhutan website.
Other suggestions. You may also try to use browsers other than IE. Google Chrome, for example, has a better chance to display Unicode Tibetan text (even without installing the fonts).
